Our Story

Defiance was carved from the heart of Northwest Ohio’s Great Black Swamp. This impossible location defied the odds and became the hub of industry, commerce, and tourism for the Northwest Region. This site celebrates that rich heritage that created Defiance’s inspiring legacy.

Dr. Cameron was one of Defiance’s rugged pioneers who helped carve a community from a primitive village. He was known as the Smallpox Doc as he specialized in fighting the dreaded disease that took so many lives in the Great Black Swamp. His office is seen at AuGlaize Village on Krouse Road in Defiance.
